STEAM Tank is in full swing in Ms. Wolkom’s class! After working very hard to create video applications earlier this year, we were excited to learn that all three Cove Road teams were selected to participate in the Central Jersey Regional STEAM Tank Competition on Saturday, March 16! Our fifth grade students have come up with some amazing ideas and they have spent the past few weeks bringing their innovative designs to life! Each team has created their own product that will be showcased at the competition. These products include:

  • Safety Sensor- a smoke detector and arm-band system that will provide individuals with hearing disabilities or a sensitivity to sound the ability to feel an alert, rather than hear it! This product was created by Gabriela Altmajer, Sadie Cizin, & Connor Lee.

  • Safety Cane- a new and improved cane for individuals with visual impairments! The cane will be equipped with cameras and vibration sensors which will notify the user of any items that may be in their path. This product was created by Mario Aquilone, Justin Sclavunos, Ryan Settle, and Joshua Tweddle.

  • SmartScope- a high-tech stethoscope that will have a volume dial and a digital readout. This will allow nurses, doctors, and first responders to see and hear important cardiac information during loud or hectic emergency situations! This product was created by Alex Iglesias, Anthony Barone, Ava Jansen, and Morgan Rafferty.
