Intervention and Referral Service

The Intervention and Referral Service is a coordination of system procedures in each school building. General education students are served for the planning and delivery of intervention and referral services that are designed to assist services for students who are experiencing learning, behavior or health difficulties, and to assist staff who are having difficulties addressing student’s learning, behavior, or health needs. Functions of the Intervention and Referral Services are to identify learning, behavior, and/or health difficulties of students through collecting information from a variety of resources, develop and implement a plan of action, and provide support guidance and professional development to school staff who participate in the I&RS process.  In addition, it may actively involve parents or guardians in the development and implementation of intervention and referral services action plans.
