Principal's Message

Gina Dorozynski

“Children are miracles. We must make it our job to create, with reverence and gratitude, a space that is worthy of a miracle.”

-Anita Rui Olds, Early Childhood Educator

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Preschool and Kindergarten students are amazing. They are resilient and full of wonder, love, and humor. They are our miracles.

Our school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all students and staff, where courtesy and kindness prevail, and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures. Our students. parents and staff work hard individually, as classmates, and as a school community in order to create learning environments worthy of Hazlet's little miracles.

We continually strive to cultivate relationships with students and with each other. Our teachers, paraprofessionals, child study team, therapists, nurse, secretary, and staff demonstrate a keen ability to think creatively and work together. We share the same educational vision, mission, and goals.  We care about young children and believe that all children can learn. We research and test best practices to meet the needs of diverse learners in literacy, math, science, social studies, technology, art, music, and enrichment.  We intentionally weave together Personalized Learning, Social Emotional Learning, and Future Ready skills to maximize every child’s potential.

SDECLC is a proud, Silver Certified, Sustainable NJ school! Technology is integrated across the curriculum to ensure that all students meet and exceed learning targets. Teachers utilize Essential Software for Guiding Instruction (ESGI) to assess student progress in preschool and kindergarten as part of a school wide assessment plan. With ESGI, teachers frequently collect data to drive instruction, personalize learning and provide feedback to parents/guardians.

You should feel confident that we will be addressing your child’s individual academic and social emotional needs.  Through positive teacher- child interactions, we learn about student's strengths, interests, and needs. With the help of a trusted adult your child will set learning goals aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Preschool and Kindergarten.  To achieve these learning goals our curriculum has been crafted to include the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, Letterland Phonics, Schoolwide Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, Pearson EnVision Math 2.0, and Pearson Science Dimensions. We share in our students successes with you. You are your child’s first teacher. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that your child's academic and social emotional needs are met.

Our PTO welcomes new parents with open arms. Activities such as Fall Family Harvest Festival, Spookley Pumpkin Patch, An Evening with Santa, Family Bingo and Pizza, Someone Special Dance, Field Day and Art Night increase your child’s feelings of success. SDECLC is fortunate to have a fabulous PTO who plans and organizes events to enhance the curriculum. They are an open, approachable, dedicated, and fun group of parents.

You should feel that your child’s principal is always available to you if there is any concern.  Please feel free to call the office to talk or schedule an appointment to meet with me at any time. Telephone 732 264-2180 Ext. 8002 You may also reach me via email gdorozynski@hazlet.org
