Good News Report

While investigating Native Americans and Early Settlers coming to America, Mr. DeSevo and Mrs. Christ’s class identified what made the Raritan Bay area a desirable location.  We discovered that Raritan translates to “where the stream overflows.”  Early people were attracted to abundant resources, including fish and wildlife, farmable land and fertile soil, access to transportation, favorable climate, and plenty of trees for timber.  The pathways and trails developed by Native Americans still exist today and stretch from the Navesink River to the Minisink and Upper Delaware River.  These trails mapped many of our roads today, including our Garden State Parkway and even our railroads.  The Raritan Bay area flourished into a mecca for industry and trade and has established itself and Hazlet as premier places to live in America!!!
