Letter from the Principal

January 5th, 2024

Dear Beers Street Families,

Happy New Year!

Students enjoyed an excellent assembly presented by the high school and middle school band and choir members today.

We are pleased to announce that 5th graders will begin the L.E.A.D. program (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) next week. The program's focus includes drug prevention, goal setting, decision-making, and conflict resolution. We are excited to welcome Officer Megan Quinn of the Hazlet Police Department. She will be teaching the character development program.

Heroes and Cool Kids will visit the 5th grade on Thursday next week. This select group of Raritan High School students will discuss the importance of making good choices.

The PTO Penny Wars fundraiser begins on Monday! Homerooms will compete against one another, and the homeroom that raises the most money will earn a pizza party! If the school surpasses the $2000 goal, I will dress up in a silly costume. The fundraiser runs from January 8th to 19th. Flyers were sent home today with more details. You can also learn more here.

Online homework help is available in the evening from 6:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students may log onto Google Meet using the code homeworkhelp23.

Morning math help is available from 8:00 - 8:20 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the STEAM lab.

If you would like your child to attend after-school tutoring, please complete this form and return it to your child's homeroom teacher.

When emailing the school nurse about your child's absence, please send the email to bssattendance@hazlet.org. You may also report absences by calling nurse Pat Raphael at (732) 264-1107, ext. 3003.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Ian Collis

Principal
