Dear Beers Street Families,
Next week is Red Ribbon Week at Beers Street School. There are activities and theme days planned.
Monday - Wear red because we are proud to be drug-free
Tuesday - Workout clothes and sneakers because we make healthy choices
Wednesday - Bulldogs are on the drug-free team. Wear your favorite team shirt
Thursday - Don’t be scared to say no to drugs. Wear black, orange, and/or purple
Friday - Say Boo to drugs! Wear your Halloween costume
On Thursday, October 29th, our 6th grade will attend an informative assembly discussing the harmful effects of vaping presented by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department.
The Halloween Dance is this Thursday, October 30th, from 3:00 - 4:30 PM. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at 4:30. Students are encouraged to wear black, orange, and purple (students may wear costumes on Halloween). Permission slips were sent home. Please return permission slips no later than Tuesday, October 28th. Here's a link to the permission slip and more info.
Language arts tutoring will not be held on Thursday, October 30th.
Time is running out for the PTO Silly String-O-Ween fundraiser! The homeroom that donates the most money between now and October 30th will get to silly-string me, the principal, at the Halloween Dance. Donations go towards funding field day.
Halloween is on Friday, October 31st, and students are encouraged to wear costumes to school. Please follow the dress code and note the following to ensure a fun and safe day. Apparel with offensive, profane, or inappropriate messages or images will not be permitted. This includes masks, toy weapons, or clothing that is revealing. Please refrain from bringing snacks or candy to school.
On October 29th and 30th, students will participate in a state-mandated field test for the NJSLA-Adaptive Mathematics and ELA Assessments. The NJSLA-Adaptive Field Test is a non-graded, trial version of New Jersey's new computer-adaptive standardized tests, designed to evaluate new technology before full implementation. The test is not used for student grades and will not impact academic records, but participation is mandatory and helps the state assess the quality and fairness of future tests. The results are used to improve the overall statewide assessment system.
The Rocket Basketball Fall Clinic takes place over the November break and serves students in grades 3 through 8. You can learn more and register here.
Picture Retakes will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The school doors open at 8:00 AM. Please refrain from coming earlier. The car drop-off line can extend onto Beers Street, creating a traffic jam. To eliminate the backup on Beers Street and maintain safety, please do not arrive until 8:00 AM. We appreciate your cooperation.
When emailing the school nurse about your child's absence, please send the email to bssattendance@hazlet.org. You may also report absences by calling nurse Pat Raphael at (732) 264-1107, ext. 3003.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Ian Collis
Principal
