Friends of Diverse Learners
Our mission is to enhance the education of children who have diverse learning styles, bringing families together to share information and to provide support for one another.
As a member of Two River Friends of Diverse Learners, Hazlet Friends of Diverse Learners has the unique opportunity to collaborate with neighboring districts throughout the school year so that all Hazlet parents may participate in FREE parent education seminars led by topic-expert speakers and monthly parent support group meetings. We are proud to have Hazlet represented as a member of Two Rivers Friends of Diverse Learners, in partnership with the following districts: Colts Neck, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Manasquan, Middletown, Oceanport, Old Bridge, Red Bank, Red Bank Regional High School, Rumson, Rumson/Fair Haven High School, and Shrewsbury.
Some of the resources and parent education seminars shared between member districts will contain information that is relevant to all children, and some will be geared toward children with specific identified disabilities.
Hazlet parents are notified of all shared resources and receive invitations to FREE parent education seminars through email distributions. If you wish to receive information shared between the Two River collaborative districts, please send an email to FDL.Hazlet@gmail.com or find us on Facebook at Facebook
What is a “Different Learner” or a “different learning style”?
All children can learn, but some have a different way of learning. Some of our different learners may have identified disabilities, such as Autism, ADD/ADHD, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, etc. Other different learners may not have an identified disability, but they have unique learning styles that present occasional or frequent challenges in the classroom and during homework time.
