Dress Code

STUDENT DRESS

Although the type of dress one decides on depends to a larger degree upon an individual’s likes, dislikes, and one’s own personal point of view, there are certain standards that should be followed while one is in school. Proper dress is but one standard in the foundation of good etiquette as students relate with each other in school. A Student should be encouraged to take pride in his/her appearance as well as have respect for those around him/her.

Being neat, clean and modest in dress are societal standards for which all students should be required to strive. All students must keep in mind the following requirements:

  • The health and safety of the student(s) must not be jeopardized.

  • Dress and grooming must be sanitary.

  • The student(s) dress and appearance must not distract from the educational process.

  • The educational process should not be disturbed by extremes in any manner.

  • Short shorts (girls and boys), less than a 3" inseam, are not acceptable.

  • Clothing which is more appropriate for beachwear (bathing suits, flip-flops, etc) will not be worn in school.

  • Apparel with offensive or profane messages will not be allowed.

  • Clothing which advertises alcohol or drugs will not be permitted.

  • Tube tops, midriffs, strapless garments, torn garments, muscle shirts, pajama attire and lounge wear will not be allowed.

  • Clothing must cover one’s upper torso. Clothing that exposes or emphasizes the anatomy is not acceptable (tank tops, tube tops, midriff shirts/blouses, basketball jerseys).

  • Students must not walk barefoot in the school.

  • Hats, headbands or bandanas may not be warn in the building and must be in lockers prior to homeroom.

  • Coats or gloves and not to be worn in class.

  • Transparent clothing is not acceptable.

The appearance of any young person is primarily the responsibility of the individual and his/her parents.

The administration reserves the right to discipline any students who is not dressed properly. Students dressed inappropriately may be sent home.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROMOTION DRESS CODE

The following standards are acceptable dress for Middle School promotion:

Boys

  • Boys will wear a dress shirt, tie, dress pants and shoes, and socks.

  • Sandals, flip-flops or sneakers are not acceptable.

  • Formal wear – tuxedos will not be permitted. Jackets are optional

Girls

  • Girls will wear appropriate dresses or a skirt and blouse combination.  Culottes or split skirts are also acceptable.   Sneakers or flip-flops will not be permitted.

  • Formal wear, floor length gowns will not be permitted.

School officials will exclude from the promotion ceremony whom they feel is not appropriately dressed.  The administration reserves the right to discipline any student who is not properly dressed.  Students dressed inappropriately may be sent home.
