Educating our students...to achieve their maximum potential.
The Hazlet Township Public Schools believes that an effective mathematics program should reflect our society’s concern for improving the mathematical ability of our citizens. New technology demands an increased need for students to understand and apply mathematical principles and concepts. Our comprehensive Mathematics program prepares all students for the challenges that they will face in their daily lives and in future work experiences.
The objectives of the Mathematics Department are:
To develop those mathematical skills which prepare students for the technological and mathematical demands of the twenty-first century.
To develop a student's ability to analyze and problem solve utilizing student-centered activities.
To have students recognize and apply the relationships of mathematics to other fields of learning.
To develop the concepts, skills, and applications necessary for advanced study in mathematics, science, and technology.
To gain an appreciation of the importance and power of mathematics.
To establish desirable work habits and study skills with an emphasis on logical thinking, problem-
solving, and mathematical reasoning.To achieve a proficient level in the use of technology applications in mathematics, for example:
using a calculator, graphing calculator, computer, and computer software applications.To enhance the communication of mathematical ideas.
